Network Downtime Strikes Avalanche (AVAX): Ethereum Rival Faces Five-Hour Disruption

Avalanche (AVAX), a notable layer-1 blockchain and competitor to Ethereum (ETH), recently encountered a five-hour network outage.
The disruption, identified by Avalanche Status, prevented the acceptance of blocks on its primary network. However, swift action was taken to address the issue, with the outage being resolved on Friday morning through an update. Patrick O’Grady, Ava Labs’ vice president of platform engineering, attributed the solution to an upgrade to AvalancheGo v1.11.1, which rectified excessive communication among node validators. Despite the outage, AVAX’s price remained relatively stable at $35.55, marking a 1.85% decrease over the past 24 hours.
This incident parallels an earlier outage experienced by Solana (SOL), emphasizing the occasional challenges faced by layer-1 blockchain networks.
