Germany Embraces NFT and Philately with Unique ‘Crypto Stamp’ Launch

In November, Deutsche Post will release a unique “crypto stamp,” enabling Germans to pre-order these innovative collectibles.
These stamps will showcase AI-rendered images of historical buildings and come in both physical and non-fungible token (NFT) formats. Each crypto stamp will be accompanied by a booklet that includes the physical stamp and access information for the NFT. The launch has generated significant interest and surpassed expectations, according to a Deutsche Post spokesperson. Circulating 250,000 copies, the initiative aims to cater to Germany’s vast traditional philatelic community.
The first stamp in the series features an AI interpretation of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, designed with a pixelated digital aesthetic. The crypto stamp will have a €1.60 postage denomination and will be available for purchase on November 2, both as a standalone stamp and in a combo with the NFT at a retail price of €9.90. An additional 800,000 copies will be released as conventional stamps, with the Federal Ministry of Finance serving as the official issuer of all Germany-branded stamps. This move follows other postal services worldwide, such as Swiss Post, introducing crypto stamps to bridge the gap between physical and digital philately.
