Digital Ruble Mass Adoption Projected by Russian Central Bank Within 5-7 Years

Elvira Nabiullina, the head of the Russian central bank, clarified that the widespread launch of the digital ruble will not occur before 2025, extending the pilot phase. 

This statement contradicts recent remarks by Anatoly Aksakov, chair of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, who suggested a mass launch starting next year. Nabiullina emphasized that the decision hinges on results from the pilot phase, indicating a timeline of five to seven years for mass adoption of the digital ruble, aligning with people and businesses’ preferences for convenience.
