Vitalik Buterin Donates $340K in ETH to Tornado Cash Developer Alexey Pertsev
Ethereum co-creator Vitalik Buterin donated 100 ETH, worth approximately $340,000, to Alexey Pertsev. A developer of Tornado Cash, to help cover his legal fees.
The donation was made in two installments of 50 ETH each through the Juicebox fundraising platform. Which has raised over 184 ETH to support Pertsev. Pertsev faces legal challenges after being sentenced to over five years in prison by a Dutch court for alleged money laundering.
Tornado Cash was banned by the US in 2022, but an appeals court overturned the ban, ruling it unlawful.
