UNDP and Algorand Foundation to Launch Blockchain Academy for Global Empowerment
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Algorand Foundation are gearing up to launch the Algorand Blockchain Academy in the first quarter of 2024.
The primary goal of the academy is to empower the 22,000-plus employees of UNDP with comprehensive insights into the practical applications of blockchain technology. Led by Robert Pasicko, the expert in alternative finance and low-carbon development, the academy will offer a curriculum featuring recorded lectures, interactive workshops, and hands-on assignments. Notably, the course will extend its benefits to staff members across various UN agencies. Pasicko emphasizes the academy’s pivotal role in arming the UNDP team with the necessary tools to tackle global challenges through blockchain technology.
Doro Unger-Lee, Head of Education and Inclusion at Algorand Foundation, highlights the initiative as a crucial first step toward identifying and delivering actionable blockchain solutions. The academy’s beta phase, commencing in the upcoming year, will focus on key areas such as narrowing financial exclusion gaps, ensuring supply chain transparency, real-world asset tokenization, and implementing universal digital identity solutions in alignment with the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
