U.S. City Launches $3.9M Guaranteed Income Program – First Come, First Served

The City of Richmond, Virginia has launched the RVA Stay Gap Grant Program, offering a one-time $1,200 housing assistance grant to eligible residents.
With $3.9 million in funding, grants will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. To qualify, applicants must live in Richmond, spend at least 30% of their income on housing, fall within the bottom 80% of the low-income bracket, and not receive other city housing aid. Renters must hold a valid lease in their name, while homeowners need a current mortgage.
Grant funds will be sent directly to landlords for renters or used first for property taxes for homeowners. With any remainder paid to the homeowner. The application deadline is December 31, with notifications issued within eight weeks.
