Twitter’s Doge-themed Logo Change Sends Dogecoin Price Soaring by 23%

On Monday, Twitter users noticed a change in the platform’s logo. The traditional blue bird had been replaced by a cartoon picture of Doge, the famous Shiba Inu meme. While there was no formal announcement of the logo change, people suspected Elon Musk is behind it due to his fondness for Dogecoin. The meme coin cryptocurrency experienced a 23% surge in value against the U.S. dollar on the news, reaching a high  with $1.22 billion in 24-hour global trade volume.

Although it’s uncertain how long the Doge logo will last, it has sparked a conversation on Twitter, with some wondering what message Elon Musk is trying to convey. The billionaire entrepreneur has shared a meme and an image of the Wall Street Bets (WSB) Chairman telling him to change the bird logo to Doge last year, joking about the logo change.

In addition to the logo change, Twitter users who don’t pay a fee may lose their blue checkmark verifications, which has caused controversy. Twitter’s original blue bird logo, named “Larry T Bird,” was inspired by NBA legend and Hall-of-Famer Larry Bird.
