Taproot Wizards’ Quantum Cats NFT sale has successfully garnered 268.3 bitcoins, equivalent to $11.3 million, despite initial technical setbacks that caused a delay.
The sale commenced on February 5, 2023, with a significant number of the Ordinal inscription collectibles sold before opening to the general public. Initially exclusive to whitelisted individuals, the collection expanded to the broader audience after a specified duration. The whitelist mint concluded, creating 2,600 cats before the public mint began, and minters have created 2,680 Quantum Cats out of the total 3,000 available. Priced at 0.1 BTC each, the sale has already secured 268.3 BTC by the end of the whitelist period, leaving slightly over 300 cats available for purchase.
Notably, U.S. residents are excluded from acquiring these Taproot Wizard inscriptions. As the post-sale period begins, the market will determine the fate of Quantum Cats NFTs in terms of value appreciation, maintenance, or potential decline below the 0.1 BTC benchmark on secondary markets. This sale unfolds amidst a growing interest in Ordinal inscriptions within the NFT space, where Bitcoin stands as the second-largest platform, boasting $2.25 billion in NFT sales volume to date.
