South Africans Can Now Buy Gold in Bits via Mesh.trade’s Blockchain-Based Krugerrands

Mesh.trade, a South African tokenized asset exchange, has launched Bullion Krugerrand tokens through Troygold, enabling investors to buy fractional gold stored at Brink’s in Johannesburg.

Each purchase includes a blockchain-based ownership certificate, accurate to seven decimal places. Investors can redeem tokens for physical Krugerrands once they accumulate a full ounce. The gold is fully insured by Lloyd’s of London, with access limited to custodians. Troygold charges a 1.2% fee covering two years of storage, while Mesh.trade ensures direct asset ownership. Even if the platform shuts down, investors can still claim their gold, enhancing secure and flexible access to gold investments.
