SK Telecom Joins Forces with Polygon Labs to Boost Web3 Ecosystems and Startups

Polygon Labs, the blockchain company behind MATIC, has joined forces with South Korean mobile giant SK Telecom to advance Web3 ecosystems and nurture promising startups.
Oh Se-hyun, VP and Head of Web3 CO at SKT, and Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs, attended the agreement signing at SK Telecom’s Seoul headquarters to formalize the partnership. Boiron emphasized the collaboration’s significance in extending Web3 experiences to a broader audience, while SK Telecom’s VP highlighted the potential for valuable business opportunities and Web3 ecosystem growth.
This collaboration carries several benefits. Both companies will focus on identifying and supporting promising startups in the Web3 sector, fostering global startup entry into South Korea, and facilitating the introduction of leading global decentralized apps (dApps) into the Korean market. SK Telecom’s NFT marketplace, TopPort, will integrate with the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain, enabling users to mint Polygon-based NFTs that are interoperable with other platforms in the Polygon ecosystem. Additionally, SK Telecom’s upcoming web3 wallet, set to launch in the second half of 2023, will be compatible with the Polygon network and facilitate NFT trading.
