Setbacks Postpone Russia’s Cryptocurrency Mining Bill
The Russian State Duma is reviewing a bill to legalize cryptocurrency mining and permit the sale of mined digital currency, though approval is not expected by fall.
Currently, cryptocurrency cannot be used for settlements in Russia. The proposed law allows the disposal of mined digital currency without using Russian information infrastructure for transactions. It aims to legalize crypto mining, aid law enforcement, define mining activities and pools, and prohibit crypto advertising in Russia.
