Sei’s Asia Push: Compliance Before Institutions

Layer-1 blockchain Sei is leaning into Asia by prioritizing regulatory compliance first, then pursuing institutional adoption.
Its Asia growth chief said the network already secured a key license in Japan—a tougher-than-average regulatory environment—which enabled listings on Binance Japan and OKX Japan.
Sei is also integrating Circle’s USDC and leveraging tokenization infrastructure (like Apollo + Securitize) to make it easier for institutions to launch structured products and derivatives. In South Korea, the chain ranks among the top three in trading volume, despite being smaller in market cap and total value locked than peers. The plan: use regulatory trust as a foundation, then scale developer adoption across hubs like Vietnam and Indonesia.
