SEC Chair Says New Crypto Framework Will Help Projects Determine Token Status Before Launch

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is moving toward a more transparent approach to crypto regulation. With SEC Chair Paul Atkins stating that new guidance will allow blockchain projects to determine whether their tokens qualify as securities before they are launched.

The proposed framework aims to replace years of regulatory uncertainty with clearer classification standards, helping developers, investors, and crypto companies understand their compliance obligations at an earlier stage. Supporters believe the initiative will encourage responsible innovation. Reduce legal risks, and make it easier for legitimate projects to launch in the United States without fear of unexpected enforcement actions.

The announcement comes as Congress continues debating the CLARITY Act. Which seeks to clearly define the regulatory roles of the SEC and the CFTC in overseeing digital assets and establishing a more predictable legal framework for the crypto industry.
