Ripple Integrates Ethereum Virtual Machine with New XRPL EVM Sidechain

Ripple announced the XRPL EVM Sidechain, bringing Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility to the XRP Ledger. 

This innovation aims to enhance decentralized finance and real-world asset tokenization by connecting to the XRPL mainnet via a bridge, with wrapped XRP as the native asset and gas token. Axelar will exclusively source the sidechain’s gas token, ensuring security and user experience. 

Ripple’s engineering team, in collaboration with Peersyst, is expanding XRPL’s interoperability. Over the next 12-15 months, they will monitor XLS-38 adoption, proposing revisions based on community feedback.
