Regulatory Clarity Needed to Power Tokenized Finance, Says SEC Official

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce has called for clear regulations to unlock the full potential of tokenization, which she sees as the next evolution in financial infrastructure.
Speaking at a Crypto Task Force roundtable, Peirce emphasized that blockchain-based tokenization—turning traditional assets like stocks and bonds into crypto tokens—falls within the SEC’s jurisdiction and can modernize markets through automation and decentralization.
While highlighting the benefits of smart contracts and successful tokenized funds, she warned that legal uncertainty is slowing progress and urged the SEC to align rules for tokenized and traditional assets unless legally necessary.
