Record-Breaking Sale: CryptoPunks NFT Fetches $16 Million in Ethereum
Despite Ethereum’s recent price surge to its highest level in over two years, the market experienced a downturn this week.
However, this didn’t deter a significant transaction: A CryptoPunks NFT was acquired for more than $16 million worth of ETH on Wednesday. Punk #7804, one of only nine Alien Punks in the renowned Ethereum NFT collection. Exchanged hands for 4,850 ETH, equivalent to $16.42 million at the time of sale. Marking it as the second-largest CryptoPunks sale ever in terms of ETH and USD. This transaction follows closely after another Alien Punk (#3100) was sold for 4,500 ETH worth $16.03 million on March 3.
The buyer of Punk #7804 remains undisclosed. While the seller expressed regret on Twitter for not maximizing its profile during their ownership. This sale now ranks as the fifth most expensive NFT sale ever, showcasing the enduring popularity and value of CryptoPunks since their creation in 2017 by Larva Labs.
