Putin Announces That 85% of CIS Trade is Now in National Currencies

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that over 85% of trade within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is now conducted in national currencies. Marking a significant shift toward financial independence.

Speaking at the CIS summit in Moscow, he emphasized member states’ efforts to build resilient financial infrastructures. And reduce reliance on foreign economic systems, especially imports.

Putin noted the growing use of national currencies in mutual payments and highlighted the rapid progress in strengthening Russia’s technological sovereignty. As CIS countries work together to foster economic collaboration and reduce external dependencies.
