Proton Introduces Bitcoin Wallet Feature: 100 Million Proton Mail Users Can Now Receive BTC

Proton has launched Proton Wallet, a self-custodial bitcoin wallet, to its 100 million Proton Mail users. CEO Andy Yen highlighted that the wallet offers robust security features and user-friendly design, making it an accessible entry point for newcomers to bitcoin. 

The wallet leverages Proton’s encryption infrastructure, allowing users to send and receive bitcoin via email with full control and privacy. Proton Wallet ensures users retain ownership through a recovery seed phrase independent of Proton. 

Managed by Proton Financial AG, the wallet aims to democratize access to digital assets while maintaining Proton’s commitment to privacy and security.
