Nike Debuts Its First-Ever Digital Sneaker Collection on .Swoosh
Nike is set to release its first-ever non-fungible token (NFT) sneaker collection on its .Swoosh platform. The digital sneaker, named Our Force 1 (OF1), is a nod to the brand’s classic Air Force 1 design. Starting April 18, Nike will airdrop “posters” to select .Swoosh users, granting them early access to the sale on May 8, with the full .Swoosh community able to purchase the digital goods on May 10. Each user can choose from two digital boxes, priced at $19.82 each, that correspond to different design options, including a co-created design by four Nike fans in January. Holders of the OF1 boxes will receive an NFT paired with a 3D file that they can use to “express themselves in new ways,” with plans to add “exclusive physical products or experiences” in the future. Members of .Swoosh can also create their own collections and earn royalties from sales. Nike released a beta version of its .Swoosh platform in November 2020, with plans to use it for Web3 education and to buy and trade digital collectibles, which can also be worn in video games and other immersive experiences.
