Nigerian Anti-Corruption Body Warns Against ‘Spraying’ Naira Notes Due to Depreciation Concerns
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) issued a stern warning against the act of spraying naira notes at social gatherings, stressing that it tarnishes the integrity of the currency.
In a recent statement on its official platform, the Nigerian anti-graft agency urged citizens to uphold the respect for the naira and refrain from actions that demean it. The EFCC voiced concern that the practice of “spraying” money, particularly during celebratory events, leads to a devaluation of the naira.
The agency has taken action against several individuals, including notable figures like social media personality Bobrisky and nightlife promoter Cubana Chief Priest, for misusing the currency.
