New Players Invited to Join Brazil’s CBDC Pilot Program

The Brazilian Central Bank is expanding its drex CBDC pilot by inviting new consortiums to participate in testing advanced use cases and privacy solutions.

From October 14 to November 29, new proposals will be reviewed to join 13 confirmed use cases, including carbon credits. Agricultural bonds, and international trade. This second phase aims to address privacy issues that delayed drex’s completion until 2025.

While no launch date is set. Officials emphasize that tokenization and crypto should be integrated into the financial system with proper regulation.
