Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Strategy With $25M Venture Fund and New Investment Arm
Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet is expanding its crypto strategy by launching a new venture arm and committing $25 million in investments to support the country’s growing Bitcoin ecosystem.
The company plans to deploy the funds over the next two to three years through new subsidiaries focused on venture investments and digital asset management. The initiative includes the creation of Metaplanet Ventures and Metaplanet Asset Management, which will invest in companies building Bitcoin-related infrastructure such as lending platforms, payment systems, custody services, derivatives markets, and compliance technologies.
As part of the strategy, Metaplanet has already signed a plan to invest up to $2.6 million in JPYC, Japan’s first licensed yen-backed stablecoin issuer. The move reflects the company’s broader effort to move beyond simply holding Bitcoin and instead support the development of financial infrastructure around the digital asset ecosystem.
