London Resident Refutes Allegations of Operating Illegal Cryptocurrency ATMs

A London resident, Habibur Rahman, has pleaded not guilty to charges of operating an illegal cryptocurrency ATM business and laundering criminal proceeds.

The 37-year-old is accused of converting £300,000 into digital currencies without authorization from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Between April and June 2022. Police seized multiple cryptocurrency ATMs from a shop in Chatham during a search in April 2023. Rahman’s case has been transferred to Maidstone Crown Court, with the next hearing set for November 7.

The FCA has emphasized that there are no legal crypto ATM operators in the UK. Following its recent conviction of Olumide Osunkoya for running an illegal crypto ATM network.
