Leadership Shift at Bitfarms: Ben Gagnon Takes Helm as CEO
Bitfarms Ltd. (Nasdaq: BITF), a global bitcoin mining company, has named Ben Gagnon as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Gagnon, previously the chief mining officer, has played a key role in Bitfarms’ growth over the past five years, according to the company. Chairman Nicolas Bonta praised Gagnon’s leadership and strategic contributions.
Highlighting plans to expand into energy generation, heat recycling, energy trading, and high-performance computing (HPC) for artificial intelligence (AI). Meanwhile, Bitfarms is facing a hostile takeover attempt by Riot Platforms, aiming to merge and form the largest publicly listed bitcoin miner. In response, Bitfarms has implemented a “poison pill” strategy to deter Riot’s efforts, which include calls for leadership changes within the company.
