JPMorgan, Citi, and Major U.S. Banks Explore Tokenized Deposit Network

Some of the largest U.S. banks, including JPMorgan and Citi, are reportedly working on a shared tokenized deposit network that could transform how money moves across the financial system.
The initiative aims to use blockchain technology to enable faster, more efficient, and potentially 24/7 settlement of bank deposits while keeping transactions within the regulated banking framework. Unlike stablecoins, tokenized deposits represent actual bank deposits held at traditional financial institutions, offering the benefits of blockchain without moving funds outside the banking system.
The project highlights growing interest from major financial institutions in adopting blockchain technology and digital assets, as banks look for ways to modernize payment infrastructure, reduce settlement times, and compete with the rapid growth of stablecoins and decentralized finance solutions.
