Italy Announces Plans for EU Crypto Regulation Guidelines
Italy’s central bank, as revealed by Bank of Italy Governor Fabio Panetta on Tuesday. Will soon issue guidelines for implementing the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA).
Panetta, speaking at the Italian Banking Association. Underscored MiCA’s recognition of electronic money tokens (EMTs) and asset-reference tokens (ARTs) as viable payment instruments.
EMTs are linked to a single official currency, while ARTs derive their value from one or more underlying assets. Panetta emphasized that EMTs, issued by banks or electronic money institutions, are crucial for maintaining public trust as reliable payment methods.
