Global Shift: Russian Ambassador to China Reports 30 Nations Interested in BRICS Membership
Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov recently revealed that around 30 countries have expressed interest in joining the BRICS economic bloc, as reported in an opinion piece by the South China Morning Post.
BRICS recently welcomed five new members in January: Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia.
Last week, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the significant interest in BRICS, stating, “The number of states interested in BRICS is much larger than what the entity can currently absorb.” Bolivian President Luis Arce also emphasized the impact of BRICS on global dynamics, noting the shift towards a fairer and more balanced world order based on multipolarity and multilateralism. He highlighted BRICS economies’ effectiveness in challenging U.S. dominance and expressed hope for increased cooperation and complementarity among nations.
