EU Regulators Propose Erasing Entire Blockchain Histories for Data Privacy

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has issued new guidance on blockchain technology and its compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The report emphasizes that blockchains must be evaluated for their handling of personal data, addressing questions about data necessity. Blockchain types, and privacy measures. Blockchains are not exempt from GDPR. And if data deletion isn’t properly integrated, entire blockchain histories may need to be erased. This could pose a significant challenge for public blockchains like Ethereum. Which may face legal obstacles in Europe without changes to their structure to comply with these regulations.
