Enhanced Security: Convert Your Bitcoin Seed Phrase into Colors with New Tool
Bitcoin developer Entero Positivo has recently launched “BIP39Colors,” an open-source tool that allows users to hide their Bitcoin key within a series of colors.
The tool converts a BIP39 mnemonic phrase into a corresponding set of colors and can also convert the colors back to the original seed. The BIP39 standard generates a seed phrase consisting of 12 to 24 words that serve as the basis for creating a private key and accessing a Bitcoin wallet. While traditional backup methods involve writing down the words, storing crypto in this way is vulnerable to theft. In contrast, hiding the key within colors provides a more inconspicuous approach as colors are ubiquitous.
By storing the colors in various files or disguising them within different contexts, such as website design or personal preferences, users can ensure the security of their Bitcoin holdings. The method allows for flexible storage and makes it harder for governments to seize someone’s Bitcoin. Entero Positivo also offers instructions on how to decode the BIP39 colors back into the original mnemonic phrase using only a calculator, eliminating the need for external tools.
