The latest Solana meme coin making headlines is Dogwifhat (WIF), which has surged by an impressive 51% in the last 24 hours, reaching a current price of slightly over $0.42 and hitting a peak of $0.44 earlier in the day.
In the past week alone, WIF has experienced a remarkable 257% increase, according to CoinGecko. Launched quietly in November, WIF initially gained attention in December with a staggering 227,000% jump to $0.14. Despite reaching $0.32 last month, it later dipped below $0.08. With a current market cap of $423 million, WIF now stands as the fifth-largest meme coin and the 146th largest cryptocurrency overall. Solana (SOL) is also benefiting from WIF’s surge, seeing a 4% increase to reach $101.
This positive movement follows the announcement by Solana Labs about the upcoming release of a second smartphone, tentatively named “Chapter 2,” scheduled for 2025. Notably, BONK, Solana’s top meme coin from December, is not experiencing similar gains, down 4% in the past day to a price of $0.00001353. The broader cryptocurrency market is down about 1%, with Bitcoin and Ethereum both experiencing a 2% decline, trading at just above $42,600 and $2,535, respectively.
