Defending Bitcoin Developers: BLDF Aims to Safeguard Innovation and Open-Source Software Development
Bitcoin Legal Defense Fund (BLDF) has kept its promise to support 11 Bitcoin developers in a lawsuit filed by Craig Wright, the self-proclaimed inventor of Bitcoin. The trio behind BLDF, including Jack Dorsey, aim to ease the pressure on developers and safeguard innovation by defending them against legal intimidation. In a statement, Dorsey emphasized that the outcome of these cases affects everyone, even those not interested in Bitcoin, as they could have serious detrimental effects on open-source development.
The developers have characterized Wright’s allegations as a “fraudulent claim” and insist that Tulip Trading Limited deliberately commenced legal proceedings knowing full well it has no claim over the missing 111,000 bitcoins. The BLDF aims to defend developers from lawsuits regarding their activities in the Bitcoin ecosystem and safeguard innovation by shielding them from legal intimidation.
