Czech Central Banker Questions Bitcoin’s Suitability for Reserves

A Czech National Bank board member, Jan Kubicek, has expressed skepticism about including Bitcoin in the bank’s reserves, citing legal uncertainty and price volatility.
Kubicek emphasized the challenges Bitcoin’s legal classification poses for accounting and auditing, alongside its unpredictable value swings. While the bank is exploring new asset classes, including Bitcoin, it remains cautious. This view aligns with other policymakers, such as Vice Governor Eva Zamrazilova and ECB President Christine Lagarde, who have dismissed Bitcoin as a reserve asset.
Despite concerns, Governor Ales Michl has advocated for further research into Bitcoin’s potential, suggesting the creation of a test portfolio.
