Crypto Freedom: Bolivia’s Bold Move Shakes Up the Market
The Central Bank of Bolivia reports a surge in crypto activity, with digital asset trading growing 112% since lifting its blanket ban earlier this year.
Over 252,000 Bolivians now hold crypto, driving $75 million in transactions from July to October 2024, compared to $46.4 million in the first half of the year. This boom has attracted nine crypto service providers, including Bisa Bank, which now offers USDT trading and custody.
Officials highlight stablecoins as practical dollar substitutes amid Bolivia’s dollar scarcity, supporting safer, regulated crypto interactions.
