Crypto Enforcement Chief Leaves SEC After Nearly a Decade

David Hirsch, head of the Crypto Asset and Cyber Unit at the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, has left the agency after nine years.

Under his leadership, the SEC pursued numerous enforcement actions against major crypto firms like Binance and Coinbase. Announcing his departure on LinkedIn, Hirsch expressed pride in the complex investigations he led and the collaborative successes of his team. While he hasn’t disclosed his future plans, he looks forward to new challenges after a break and travel with his family.

Hirsch’s departure comes amid the SEC’s ongoing efforts to regulate the crypto market through enforcement actions against unregistered securities and market violations.
