Congress Urges SEC to Define Rules for Digital Asset Airdrops

Congressman Tom Emmer is urging the SEC to establish clear rules for digital asset airdrops, arguing that regulatory uncertainty is hindering innovation and blocking U.S. participation in blockchain projects.

In a letter to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, Emmer criticized the agency’s approach for stifling U.S. competitiveness and limiting involvement in the digital economy. He emphasized the importance of airdrops in decentralizing networks and incentivizing participation, warning that unclear regulations are pushing developers to exclude American participants from key blockchain developments.
