Colombian President Explores Blockchain and Bitcoin Solutions with Industry Leaders

Colombian President Gustavo Petro engaged in a meeting with blockchain and bitcoin experts, including JAN3 CEO Samson Mow and RSK Labs co-founder Diego Gutierrez, to explore potential applications of blockchain technology in enhancing the management of key institutions and projects within the country.

The discussions focused on three primary areas, with the first addressing the modernization of billing processes in the health system through real-time monitoring using blockchain technology. Petro also proposed leveraging blockchain for efficient land registry management and issuance of land ownership titles, building upon the July 2022 launch of the National Land Registry on the Ripple ledger in collaboration with Peersyst Technology.

Additionally, the meeting touched upon the possibility of integrating Bitcoin into free work cooperatives within the Colombian popular economy, emphasizing the potential prosperity these technologies could bring to the people. It’s worth noting that these initiatives align with the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of Colombia’s reference framework for implementing blockchain technology in state projects, emphasizing compliance with the Colombian legal framework.v
