Coinbase Integrates Euro-Pegged Stablecoin from USDC Maker Circle
The top US-based crypto exchange platform Coinbase has suddenly announced its support for a stablecoin pegged to the Euro from Circle, the issuer of USDC.
In a recent update on their social media platform. Coinbase Assets revealed that they will start supporting Euro Coin (EURC) on January 20th. Trading of EURC, an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network, will commence on June 20, 2024, around 3 PM ET. It’s emphasized not to send this asset over other networks to avoid fund loss.
Coinbase plans to add EURC with an experimental label, denoting it as a riskier and more volatile digital asset. They also mention a name change for Euro Coin, from EUROC to EURC, which is experiencing delays but assures users of fund safety and their teams’ efforts to restore full service. Initially launched by Circle on June 30, 2022. Over Ethereum, Euro Coin expanded to other crypto assets like Solana (SOL) and Stellar (XLM) later on.
