Centralization Risk Looms Over Bitcoin, Warns Leading Educator
Anita Posch, founder of Bitcoin for Fairness, has raised concerns about the centralization risks posed by governments and corporations amassing significant amounts of bitcoin.
Her warning follows Michael Saylor’s recent suggestion that the U.S. should purchase 20-25% of the total bitcoin supply to influence its development and global adoption. While Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis supports purchasing one million BTC (about 5% of the supply), Saylor’s proposal could lead to greater influence over the Bitcoin network, potentially impacting its decentralized nature.
Posch cautions that such centralization could lead to attempts to alter the protocol to suit specific interests, undermining Bitcoin’s core principles.
