Calls for DOJ Investigation Into Trump’s ‘Money for Nothing’ Memecoin Deal

Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group, has urged the DOJ to investigate whether Donald Trump violated gift solicitation laws by promoting his memecoin.

The group argues that Trump’s ownership of the coin. Which saw a surge before his inauguration but later dropped in value, amounts to soliciting money in exchange for nothing. In a complaint to government ethics officials. Public Citizen warns that allowing a president to profit from such sales could set a dangerous precedent.

They call for an investigation to determine if the memecoin sale constitutes an illegal gift solicitation and should be halted.
