Buried Bitcoin Treasure Worth $800M Set for TV Spotlight
A $800 million Bitcoin treasure buried in a Welsh landfill is being turned into a global media project.
LA-based company Lebul has secured exclusive rights to adapt James Howells’ decade-long quest to recover 8,000 lost BTC into a docuseries, podcast, and social media campaign. Titled The Buried Bitcoin, the series blends real-life drama. Blockchain tech, and environmental challenges as Howells battles bureaucracy and legal hurdles to retrieve the hard drive he accidentally tossed in 2013.
Despite a court setback in early 2025. Howells now aims to buy the landfill outright to continue his search.
