Buenos Aires Pioneers Decentralized Identity with New Self-Sovereign Blockchain ID Program
Diego Fernandez, Buenos Aires’ Innovation and Transformation Secretary, announced the successful implementation of Quarkid, a self-sovereign decentralized blockchain ID project, within the city’s Miba app.
In a recent interview, he highlighted that users who have verified their identities can now utilize Quarkid’s technology to store their identity documents securely on their mobile devices, granting them control over their personal data.
Fernandez emphasized the importance of privacy in the digital age, comparing data exposure to public nudity. Currently, one million citizens can access this initiative, while 2.2 million others still need to verify their identities.
