Brazilian Authorities Launch Probe Into Iris Scanning World Project
Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) is closely monitoring World, previously known as Worldcoin, for its handling of biometric data.
The agency has launched an investigation into the project’s data collection practices, focusing on the legal basis, transparency, and safeguards for sensitive information like iris scans. World rewards users with its cryptocurrency for participating, but concerns over privacy risks have prompted stricter oversight.
Since launching in Brazil, World has registered over 150,000 participants, with the ANPD now analyzing detailed reports submitted by the company.
