Bitcoin Mining Faces Broader Crackdown in Russia

The move follows similar actions by other regions like Dagestan and Chechnya, where power outages linked to illegal mining have strained infrastructure. Some critics argue that the restrictions could push miners underground, making it harder for authorities to monitor and control energy use. However, in areas like Siberia, the measures have led to a significant reduction in energy demand, helping prevent broader power restrictions.
