Bitcoin Early Adopter Files Lawsuit Seeking Recovery of $560 Million BTC Lost in UK Landfill
An early crypto investor, James Howells, is taking legal action to recover a lost wallet containing $560 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC).
Howells accidentally discarded 8,000 Bitcoin a decade ago, and now hopes that a lawsuit will aid in retrieving them. His former partner disposed of the hard drive containing his crypto assets after placing it in a black trash bag. Despite Howells’ belief that the hard drive is in a specific area of the South Wales landfill known as the Newport Household Waste Recycling Centre. The Newport Council has denied his requests to excavate due to environmental regulations.
Howells, backed by hedge fund investors, is seeking permission from the High Court to search for the lost Bitcoin. Emphasizing his determination to reclaim his property.
