Bitcoin Advocate Criticizes Development Efforts in El Salvador
Adam Ficsor, the lead developer of Wasabi Wallet, a privacy-focused Bitcoin wallet, has spoken out about the challenges facing Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador.
In a recent interview, Ficsor expressed disappointment in Bitcoin developers’ inability to enhance Bitcoin’s role as a medium of exchange, despite efforts such as the Lightning Network. He noted that while Bitcoin excels as a store of value, its usability as a payment method remains problematic.
Ficsor shared concerns about the complexity of anonymizing Bitcoin payments, which led to personal fears for his safety and that of his family due to increased scrutiny of privacy-focused developers. Wasabi Wallet has recently made changes, dropping some privacy features, amid broader regulatory pressures on privacy services in the crypto market.
