Adidas and Fewocious Shake Up the Sneaker World with NFT Collaboration
Adidas, the global apparel giant, has joined forces with digital artist Fewocious for an exciting sneaker collaboration.
Fewocious, a talented 20-year-old artist known for his vibrant and playful style, has created a limited edition NFT mint pass called “Trefoil Flower.” Only 4,500 of these passes will be available for purchase exclusively on the OpenSea marketplace starting from June 22.
What’s unique about this collaboration is that the NFT mint pass serves as a direct redemption ticket for a pair of custom-designed physical sneakers called Adidas Originals Campus 00s. Holders of the mint pass can “burn” (permanently destroy) the NFT starting in August and expect the sneakers to be shipped the following month.
Each pair of physical sneakers will be embedded with an NFC tag, a cool technological device that can be scanned for verification. This NFC tag is also linked to a companion NFT, creating a special connection between the physical and digital worlds.
The Trefoil Flower NFT will be available through a three-tier pre-sale, followed by a public mint. Early access to minting at a discounted price will be granted to holders of Adidas’ existing Alts Decos and Soles NFTs, as well as Fewocious Paint Drops. Others, including holders of Adidas Alts, Fewocious NFTs, and select NFTs from a specific list, will be able to mint later. The public sale will start shortly after.
Fewocious has made quite a name for himself in the Web3 world, with over $50 million in lifetime sales. He’s collaborated with big names like Nike-owned RTFKT, as well as prestigious auction houses Christie’s and Sotheby’s. It’s safe to say his art is in high demand!
Adidas has been exploring the NFT space since acquiring a Bored Ape NFT. They even created a fictional character named Indigo Herz based on it. Their “Into the Metaverse” collection, created in collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comic, and NFT influencer gmoney, has facilitated over $150 million in NFT trading volume. The collection offers exclusive merchandise for NFT holders, and now Adidas is continuing their NFT journey with this collaboration.
