ZKsync to Shut Down Original Ethereum Rollup in 2026

ZKsync plans to retire its original rollup network, ZKsync Lite, in 2026 as part of its transition to newer technology.
Launched in 2020 as a payments-focused zk-rollup, the legacy network is being phased out now that more advanced infrastructure is available. The team says the shift will allow full focus on ZKsync Era and the ZK-Stack ecosystem. Which support smart contracts and offer better scalability. Users with funds on ZKsync Lite are advised to withdraw or migrate assets ahead of the shutdown. A detailed migration guide will be provided before the network is officially closed.
