UK Lawmakers Investigate Crypto Banking Restrictions After 40% of Transfers Reportedly Blocked

A cross-party group of UK lawmakers has launched a formal inquiry into banking restrictions. Affecting cryptocurrency businesses and users after reports indicated that around 40% of crypto-related bank transfers were blocked or delayed.

The Crypto and Digital Assets All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) will examine whether account closures, payment limits. And transfer restrictions imposed by major banks are undermining the UK’s ambition to become a global digital asset hub. The six-week inquiry will gather evidence from crypto firms, banks, regulators, and consumers ahead of the country’s new crypto regulatory framework. Which is set to become mandatory in October 2027. Industry participants argue that limited access to banking services is slowing innovation and discouraging investment. Making the outcome of the investigation an important step toward balancing financial crime prevention with support for the UK’s growing crypto sector.
