UK Finance Ministry Set to Implement Comprehensive Crypto Regulations, Reports Confirm

The United Kingdom’s financial regulators are taking decisive steps towards implementing comprehensive regulations for the country’s crypto industry.

Reuters reports that the UK Finance Ministry, the nation’s top financial regulatory authority, is actively developing and preparing to enforce extensive rules governing the cryptocurrency sector. This move follows the European Union’s adoption of the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation earlier this year. Despite the UK’s departure from the EU in 2020 due to Brexit. Crypto assets will be regulated under existing market laws according to the UK Finance Ministry.

Legal experts Jonathan Cavill and Sophia Le Vesconte emphasize the urgency of this action. Stating that failure to attract crypto businesses could result in the UK falling behind in the rapidly evolving digital asset market. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) had already announced a crackdown on illicit and non-compliant financial promotions. Even covering crypto-themed memes encouraging digital asset investments, starting in October.
