UAE Urges France for Immediate Consular Assistance for Telegram CEO Pavel Durov
The UAE has requested urgent consular support for Telegram CEO Pavel Durov after his arrest in France on cybercrime charges.
French authorities are investigating Durov for alleged complicity in illegal activities, including child pornography, drug trafficking, and unauthorized cryptology services, following his refusal to allow monitoring of suspects on Telegram. Despite the serious allegations, Telegram has defended Durov, asserting compliance with EU laws and denying any wrongdoing. Russia has also sought to protect Durov’s rights, but has described France as uncooperative in the matter.
